FUNERAL FOR MY 30’s
They say that once you have a funeral you can move on. In the continuation of the collaboration after the performance Funeral for my 20’s and the further development of the idea of burying a certain period of life, choreographer Sabina Perry, at the age of 41, looked back on the past decade. On the events that marked that period, which she lived through and which she believes symbolize the 30s not only of her life, but also related to the experiences of many other women. Observing the period of an era imbued with different hopes, pains, pleasures, losses, fulfilments but also numerous hopeless difficulties, the past is excavated in order to be relived once more, presented on stage and then buried forever. In collaboration with the dancer Koraljka Begović, a collage of events, experiences and emotions, both individual and collective, was created, as well as the questioning of a woman’s thirties. A show to let go, a mixtape of the past.
“You can be a mother and a poet. A wife and a lover. You can dance on the graves you dug on Tuesday, pulling out the bones of yourself you began to miss.”
