Performance Situation Room – Domino Residency: ‘Mapping the Work of Nomad Dance Academy Croatia’

This intensive residency, part of the KDF016 Summer Edition, brings together prominent dance artists and authors. The event takes place with the organizational and artistic support of Free Dance, a long-standing partner of NDA Croatia.
The Performance Situation Room – Domino Residency in Karlovac is dedicated to the second phase of work on the monograph ‘Mapping the Work of Nomad Dance Academy Croatia (NDA HR)’.
The gathering will focus primarily on media content (photography and video), as well as a collective process of writing, reflection, and the concept of polyphony. Different authorial voices and perspectives intertwine equally through live dialogue.
Polyphony, Media Content and Participatory Dramaturgies
Work on the publication is structured through a creative process that examines:
Shared knowledge and nomad pedagogy – innovative, non-institutional models of learning and knowledge transfer developed through NDA HR programmes.
Participatory dramaturgies – forms of collective creation where the structure of the book itself emerges organically, as the result of a live, collaborative process and the co-creation of all participants.
Through the reflection of independent textual materials, the residency participants collectively build upon the text, adding authorial notes, reflections and new critical reviews.
The Book as an Extension of the Philosophy of Togetherness
The monograph is conceived as an undertaking that reflects the very principles of NDA HR: collaborative work and mobility, feminist and ecologically conscious action, as well as regional and European networking.
The authors (dance artists, educators and producers) bring together documented materials and reflections, transforming the book’s creation process into an extension of the philosophy of togetherness within a publishing format.
15 Years of Independent Development and the Archival Dimension
The central aim is to document and evaluate fifteen years of NDA HR’s work, showcasing the development of contemporary dance in Croatia from an authentic and relevant perspective.
